Here is your perfect Halloween soundtrack. Our favourite prince of darkness, the Lunacy Of Flowers has put together spooky selection of tracks from the Biit Me record store archive.
Jim Leedy - Move Inside My Head off the Down & Out by NTS. Eerie, haunting and fascinating all at the same time. In this song Jim Leedy comes off as a demented John Cash for the simplest way of putting it, with his whaling, impenetrable vocals. It's a country track that really twists the mind!
Zoo - 22 Beaches off the Dust: Recordings 1980-1984 release. Almost an ambiguous surf horror track, a putting by complete accident, the lead guitar and identifying vocal rants over the top with random yelps of ‘Zoo’ add to the terror. This song feels like it should go down well in a Halloween Horror film dance floor scene.
The Unexplained - Ataraxia. Electronic musical impressions of the occult. It is exactly what it says it is. Strange proto-80’s horror film music made in the 70’s. Warm sci-if synthesiser music that you would find in any trashy horror film or slasher movie.
On The Lips - Molly Lewis feels like it could be used on any Quentin Tarantino film as the soundtrack and would work every time. It feels like not many people have caught on to this record here, but it’s really good. It’s mysterious and sexy, also would not feel out of place in the Twin Peaks universe.
Maroon - Muslimgauze serves tribalistic, ancient, ritual vibes. Sinister dirge! It’s more dark than spooky with lots of undulating dread thrown in the mix. If there were a Coil record available in the shop then that would have been in this spot but Muslimgauze is an o.g status so a very worthy choice.
